How to write a story in two weeks...?

A few weeks ago, my English professor approached me about a creative writing contest that was coming up. The prize is $500 scholarship money, which sounds pretty awesome (she also told me that it doesn't go towards tution, necessarily. They just give you two $250 checks over two semesters). I was interested, and told her to keep my updated.

Today she gave me more information, including the due date: April 19th. Keep in mind I haven't actually written anything since high school, and what I had written then is certainly not worthy of a college-level writing contest. But I won't let this stop me. I am the master of writing under pressure--I have been known to begin a 2 page essay 3-4 hours before class and still manage to make an A on it. So, we will see how that goes.

While I am on the subject of English...I want to add the fact that I got advised 2 weeks ago and my advisor finally (6 semesters later) realized that I never took English 101. The first advisor I ever had was supposed to put me in Honors English, which takes the place of both English 101 and 102. Instead, she signed off on my taking English 102, and I have gone through college without ever having taken 101. I currently have an A (okay, as far as I know) in a 300-level English course and guess where I will be this summer? In English 101 with a bunch of freshmen! I was hoping that no one would ever notice the mistake and make me take it :(
